So, my laptop went into Dell to be fixed. They shipped it back - to the wrong address. After the long weekend it still had not arrived. So I called Dell at 4:30pm and they said, "Well, it was shipped to the address you gave us." Yet .. oddly, Dell had sent me a box to send the computer to them in the first place -- and that box came to the right address.
So they told me to call DHL. DHL told me that they could not change the ship to address, only Dell could. I'd have to call Dell. I didn't much care for that so I asked if I could come pick it up. They said, "Sure, if you have a photo ID with the old address on it." I said, "Why would I have a photo ID with my office address on it?" We settled on a driver's license and a business card. She told me a person from the local DHL office would call me.
I said, "Uh, but it's 4:30, will they call me soon?" She said "Sure, you have plenty of time, you don't have to be there until 6:00." Spoken like a person in a call center in North Dakota.
At 5:00 I became worried and called again, this time I got through to the Seattle DHL office. They said it was there so I rushed down there and arrived at 5:45. I walked in and...
... my laptop wasn't there.
So I sat in my car and listened to the Mariners game until the driver came back with my computer. At the height of rush hour I then drove back to my office.
I plugged in the computer and it wouldn't even turn on. Not at all.
So I called Dell and by now was so punchy that I was super nice to the people on line. I told them everything that had happened. One hour and seven minutes later I hung up. They're coming to pick up the laptop again today.
