Rocketboom has exploded in mid flight. Now we are watching the pieces fall to the ground.
But why?
In the link above, Amanda refers to certain things she doesn't like as "very old media." But, you know, I'm unconvinced that Rocketboom at a trademark has any real lasting value. What matters now is the content and not the brand name. The brand name fight is very old media.
When catching content is as easy as getting a new RSS feed - arguably no more than 2 minutes work - Amanda could easily move to LA, start RocketBam.com and just move on. No dirty laundry. No angry postings of e-mails. No having friends say that one or the other of you is or isn't something or other.
Much talk has been lobbied around about how big RocketBoom has become. Well, for a while on the net a bunch of wiggling hedgehogs were super hot. Rocketboom was nothing. The content was everything.
