I just wanted to point out a new post in Dell's blog today about all the crap they have historically put on computers when they ship.
This post shows that Dell is, indeed, getting into their blogging. This isn't a happy market piece, it's a tacit admission that they've put a lot of annoying stuff on their computers before shipping and that this stuff impacts performance.
We buy mostly Dell stuff. (typing this on a Latitude D820). The native Dell install never lasts more than 5 minutes from the box being opened. We immediately wipe the drives, install a new OS, and rebuild the machine. Specifically because of this historic overbuilding in initial systems.
Being able to receive a machine with just Windows and the appropriate drivers would make my life a lot easier.
So good on ya, Dell for both addressing the need and blogging it.
