Robert Tur is suing You Tube for allowing someone to upload old news footage. Robert Tur owns the copyright on this information.
Why? Because every time you want to find out about your cultural history, Robert Tur wants to be paid for it. Copyright owners like to be paid.
I'm sure Robert Tur blames You Tube for the stunning, massive loss of revenue represented by the "1,000" views of a recently uploaded clip.
Why doesn't Robert Tur have an on-line repository of the admittedly worthwhile information he is currently hoarding? In fact, Robert Tur, if he was really smart, would approach You Tube and say "Here's access to our whole catalog. We want half of all ad revenue on page views with our content."
Then Robert Tur should hire some bloggers to increase the relevance of his content. The conversation bubbles from the inclusion of energy and information. Robert Tur's pocketbook blossoms with increased revenue. People of earth have access to relevant cultural information.
Or, he could sue them.
