Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger with Voice are allowing interoperability. This is ... interesting news.
Now I believe we should call them Windows and Yahoo! Live Messengers with Voices. And lots of banner ads.
I know I've long complained that the IM clients were stovepiped and forced users to have more than one IM client on their machines running all the time. So I should be happy. But, rather than just making them open standards and allowing people to build plug ins for any other chat client - we are now given a duopoly.
I still prefer Trillian.
