YAHOOLIGANS UNITE! TAKE BACK THE INTERNET FROM YOUR YANGLY OPPRESSORS!
Reporters Without Borders have released their 13 countries blacklist of countries that censor the Internet for their citizens. Kind of like a NetNanny for political thought. The list consists of the regulars, more or less. Oddly North Korea and China are still there.
But the groups condemnation of Yahoo! in a separate but equally weighty report is the most amusing. They say:
The organisation wrote to Yahoo ! in July 2002 asking it to explain why it helps Chinese government agencies responsible for censorship. The California-based corporation has for years agreed to censor the Chinese version of its search engine so that, for example, searches for such word strings as "Falungong" or "human rights in China" will display content from official sources only.
Known by the company one keeps, eh?
