In November, I begged the LiveWriter people to put three things into LiveWriter (Flickr, tables and text templates). Soon afterwards all of those showed up as plug-ins. So I installed all three.
I've used them for a while and wanted to review each one.
Flickr Integration
As you can sorta see here, there is flickr integration. This is a very useful plug-in and helped me do those nice posts from Hong Kong in late November and early December. However, this grainy photo illustrates one of my problems with this plug-in -- you can't resize the window.
Problem #2 - you get one photo at a time. I select one and insert it and the window goes away and I have to go do another one. Compare this to the Flickr integration in Flock, where you see your photos and can drag and drop them at will and this has a way to go.
However, having the plug-in is much preferable to not having it. So I'm hoping for an upgrade and will gladly use this in the interim.
Insert Table
Well, I'm not using a table now. The insert table plug-in is appreciated but not functional. You can make a table, but the table has a hard time being customizable (it always comes out looking like a standard windows table), you can't merge cells and you can't add cells to a completed table without editing the HTML.
Insert Text Template
At the end of each post, I sign off with a predictable tag that says here I am. This let me store and reuse those with a few clicks. I'd love to add them to the toolbar and have it be one click. This has worked flawlessly. I love it.
All these are available at the Live Writer plug in site. Notice when you go there that not all those are for Live Writer. For some reason Microsoft wants you to see plug ins for other things too.
