How do you know that Google isn't Microsoft? Read their blog. I've been trying to pop by daily and today's entry really strikes me. It's about how to best use Digg.
So, maybe Google is evil, maybe it isn't. But it does talk about more than just itself.
In this particular one, it's saying that Digg is a great way to find articles you weren't actually looking for. Affinity search over context or keyword search.
They made a nice gadget for Google Personalized Homepage to leverage Digg.
And that's kinda nice.

Hi J - I'm slightly confused with the suggestion that blogging about competitors make you less like Microsoft. A cursory look across the blogs on blogs.msdn.com will show that Microsoft talks about (and even praises) competitors relatively frequrnly. On10.net does the same.
Maybe I misunderstood the sentiment but I think you'll find softies a bit more open to the outside world that common wisdom would have you believe!

Hi Steve,
Heh, fair enough. And Microsoft staff have also been some of the most regular non-readers to comment on my blog.
In addition, I've especially found the Live Writer team eager for input and conversation.
So, I acknowledge the cheap shot.
